The book of Ruth is different from the other books in the Bible. There are no miracles. No signs and wonders. No prophets. No direct messages from God. It’s much more ordinary. There’s women and men. There’s marriage and in-laws. There’s children and infertility. There’s joy and sadness. In a lot of ways, it’s a lot like the world we all inhabit. Ordinary. Mundane even.
And yet Ruth is a beautiful picture of how God is extraordinarily involved in our ordinary lives. Ruth reminds us that the invisible hand of God is always guiding, directing, providing, sustaining, and redeeming us. Ruth will teach us about the redeeming love of God and the redeeming love we can experience in our relationships.
